Carroll B. Neblette memorial fund dedication scrapbook, 1977.

Scrapbook documenting the 1977 gift of the Carroll B. Neblette Memorial Library fund and the 50th anniversary of the publication of Mr. Neblette's book, "Photography, Its Materials and Processes." The scrapbook contains clippings, press releases, articles, and photographs documenting the July 6, 1977 establishment of the Carroll B. Neblette memorial library fund and dedication plaque. Images include Neblette's wife Edith, the memorial plaque, RIT President Paul Miller, Trustee Alfred Davis, and College of Graphic Arts and Photography Dean Lothar Engelmann.

It is unclear when the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) first admitted minority students. However, it appears as though the first African American students entered the Rochester Athenaeum and Mechanics Institute (renamed RIT in 1944) during the early 1900s. For instance, in 1906 Fredericka Sprague, the granddaughter of Frederick Douglass, took classes at the Institute. Paul Ausborn Miller (1917- ) was born March 22, 1917 in East Liverpool, Ohio to Harry Ausborn and Mamie Elizabeth (née Stewart) Miller. After graduating high school, he attended West Virginia University (WVU), where he earned his B.S. in Agriculture in 1939. Miller then accepted a position as a County Agricultural Agent with the WVU Agricultural Extension Service. During World War II, he served as a 1st lieutenant in the United States Army Air Corps.
